Simon invited me round to his house recently as I’ve cancelled my gym membership.
“Not to worry,” he said “I’ve just installed a gym in the cellar, bob round and I’ll let you test it out”.
I turned up to his house and was immediately overcome by the strong but distinctive aroma of Deep Heat.
Simon came to the door wearing his regular gym kit – marl grey leggings underneath short grey towelling hot pants, white towel socks, ice white sneakers and an open hooded sweatshirt. Standard.
He took me down to the gym which seems fairly standard. He’s got plenty of weights, a full length mirror and a load of posters of guys from Athena.
He says he wants the posters there to motivate him to stay in shape and I believe him.
This was blasting on the stereo when I got downstairs. It’s track 3 on his compilation ‘Cruising Pounders’. Sounds ace.

Stumbling together you approach the portable toilet. You’ve been inseperable for hours, falling around in the dark in a shared, intoxicated haze.
It stinks but you’re too wrapped in each other and in the glow of the narcotics. They’re good alright, they feel amazing like you’re gliding, moving slowly without control, falling, falling fast…
The portaloo falls to it’s side in a torrent of shit and laughter from outside.
