EP021 – Emotional Pop. The Story So Far…

Well…

We’ve laughed. We’ve cried. We’ve stripped to our waists, pumping our chests unashamed in a display of true primal masculinity and you’ve been there with us every step of the way.

To show our thanks we put together this little compilation of some of the highlights that have been featured on the blog thus far. Be warned, the music featured in this mix contains pure, unrestrained, unequivocal EMOTION. It took several times longer than it should have to compile due to us breaking down in each others arms as we listened back and debated what tracks should be featured. It was almost too powerful.

With this in mind, get ready to break-up, make-up and experience the true meaning of ‘Emotional Pop’.

Desire – Under Your Spell

Emotion: Desire

Artist: Desire

Track: Under Your Spell

Album: II

Release Details: Italians Do It Better, 2009

After a disappointing visit to the cinema to watch Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy last weekend the only positive I can remember taking from the film was a trailer for an upcoming release called ‘Drive‘. A classic ‘Indie’ styled production directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, ‘Drive’ stars Ryan Gosling as a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a wheelman for nefarious activities and becomes involved in a heist gone wrong. From hereon in to say the film turns dark and emotional is somewhat of an understatement.

One of the real highlights of the film is it’s soundtrack which compliments the tenseness and pace of the film perfectly. The inclusion of a couple of tracks from the ‘Italians Do It Better’ roster of artists is the perfect marriage for what can only be described as the cinematic equivalent of a seedy night based mission in GTA IV.

‘Drive’ is a highly recommended way to spend 100 minutes of your life after which you couldn’t go far wrong by picking up the OST which also has some brilliant tracks/interludes composed by Cliff Martinez. One of the standout tracks featured is undoubtably Desire’s ‘Under Your Spell’. A sinister tale of obsession and the soundscape to those solitary drives through the city after midnight…

Emotional Pop Loves Tumblr

When you’re listening to emotional pop music 24/7 you need things to look at. We like looking at shallow depth of field shots of coffee cups, Japanese memes and Harry Potter so we started a tumblr.

It’s basically pictures of landscapes, vintage italo records and tits. Tits being the main and most important feature.
