The Lighthouse Family – Question of Faith (Idjut Boys Mix)

Emotion: Bliss

Artist: The Lighthouse Family

Track: Question of Faith (Idjut Boys Mix)

Release Details: Polydor, 1998

If we are to continue from the Kylie post and Balearic-Pop mixes then surely there is nothing that can compete with the Idjut Boys remix of The Lighthouse Family’s ‘Question of Faith’.

Dubby and strung out to within an inch of it’s life making even this dull as dishwater, easy listening duo palatable.

We ain’t driving on ocean drive or getting lifted here. It’s all about the horizontal position.

Massively ‘Bally-ear-ache’.

Mix: Niles for Test Pressing

There’s no doubt what the best site on the ‘net for all things balearic is right now and it’s a great honour to have another mix up on the always brilliant Test Pressing.

This is a mix of European Pop and slow paced instrumental stuff. Hope you enjoy it.

EP008: Baggy – Awakenings

Now, I’ve not been posting many tracks of late but that’s mainly because I’ve been putting together a couple of mixes.

The first of which is ‘Despicable Escape‘ which I put together for good friends El-Diablos Social Club and is (Believe it or not…) on a Chillwave and Dubstep vibe. The second and below effort is for this very site and is entitled ‘Awakenings’ (Or ‘Awakening’ as on the artwork found within the .mp3 file…). There’s not much in the way of ‘Pop’ music in this mix discounting the French downbeat version of Dawn Penn’s pop reggae classic ‘No, No, No’ by Melaaz (Produced by the brilliant Phillippe Zdar…) but it does rate high on the emotional factor so as Niles has been on my back regards my lack of content I thought this would be a good time to share something with you all.

If you like what you have been hearing on the blog, we have been added to the 2011 Trip Festival line-up where we will be getting primal alongside the likes of The Idjut Boys, Mungolian Jetset, Soft Rocks and many other great DJ’s and live bands. If you fancy some Brokeback Mountain campfire action at a stunning Bangor location at the end of May then this is the place to strip down to your smalls and shed those emotions with us.

In the meantime, stick this on your music player of choice and make the most of the fantastic weather we have been having of late…

Baggy – Awakenings

  • Van Morrison – Scandinavia
  • Larry Jon Wilson – Sapelo (YtothaZ Remix)
  • Franco Micalizzi – Bargain With The Devil
  • Maynard Ferguson – Swamp
  • Ferrante and Teicher – Lady Love

  • Yusef Lateef – Nubian Lady (Metisse Remix)
  • Gudrun Gut – Pleasure Train

Emotion: Bliss

Track: Late Summer Night

What a glorious weekend. This is a track for all those of you who’ve come into the house, hazy, dazed and slightly ruddy faced from le soleil.

Enigma – Sadeness

My main man Quoonbeatz provides the first of tonight’s aural delights. You can see his (and my) photees over at Message From The Future.

Emotion : Enlightenment

Artist : Enigma

Track : Sadeness

Album : MCMXC a.d.

Release Details : Charisma, 1990

Never was the internal conflict of sexuality versus religion portrayed more evocatively than by Curly MC’s Enigma musical project. This ain’t no band; this is a musical project. This is business time. Getting your wife, Sandra (MC?), to whisper sexy French vibes while a posse of Gregorian monks chant away at the end of bed is the work of a man who gets real deep. Like an edgy Sting.

Its going great guns so far, but hark! A flute solo?! Whats to do? A sensual, mournful wail, fills the air, like a sausage dog howling at the moon– presumably Sandra has got a headache or is a bit tired tonight?

This is music for cushions and hookahs at dusk in the desert, with the curtains gently blowing in the breeze coming through the castle windows. That or it’s the ideal soundtrack for watching the 1991 4th division play-off defeat away at Torquay on a flickering giant screen at Turf Moor.

Sadeness indeed.
